One of the things I love most about portraiture is when the timing and composition of a photograph come together to both reveal and accentuate something of the subject’s personality. What better way to do that for a musician than to shoot them performing their music live?
A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing just that for some of my good friends from the band Bora York. Led by Chris and Rebekah Bartels, Bora York is an indie dream-pop band from Minneapolis, MN. Featured on numerous blogs like All Things Go and Mostly Junk Food, as well 89.3 The Current’s blog, their debut full-length Dreaming Free is making waves in the Twin Cities music scene. These shots are from their album release show at the Triple Rock, which was a tremendous success and one of the best shows I’ve seen.
If you’re looking for some new music to add to your library, I urge you to check out Bora York. I sincerely doubt you’ll be disappointed.
